About the position

The Grocery/Receiving Clerk at Smith's Food and Drug, part of the Kroger family, is responsible for creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. This role involves maintaining a safe and clean environment, assisting the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals, and ensuring compliance with quality assurance standards. Responsibilities

  • Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service.
  • Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals.
  • Monitor all established quality assurance standards.
  • Embrace the Customer 1st strategy and encourage associates to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Report all safety risks or issues, including robbery, theft, or fraud.
  • Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
  • Develop and train DSD Receiver backup.
  • Ensure maximum security of the receiving area.
  • Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying the appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions.
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are kept.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
  • Ensure inventory management for all delivered products.
  • Process damaged/returned goods and complete/process paperwork.
  • Check condition, accuracy of quantity, pricing, and temperature of products received.
  • Ensure shipping and receiving tools are working properly.
  • Maintain an awareness of inventory/stocking conditions to capture ordering system integrity.
  • Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
  • Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
  • Promote trust and respect among associates with a positive attitude.

Requirements

  • Ability to collaborate and work cooperatively in a team-based environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Any receiving experience.
  • Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing).
  • Familiarity with industry/technical terms and processes.
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills.
