About the position
The Ground Laborer position at Summit Materials involves supporting production operations in the Aggregate division by performing essential tasks to maintain the consistent operation of plant and equipment. This role is crucial for ensuring the safety and efficiency of the work environment while contributing to the company's mission of building a better tomorrow through construction materials.
Responsibilities
- Maintain good housekeeping practices on plant and equipment using water hoses and shovels.
- Perform general labor duties such as shoveling and sweeping.
- Troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues to ensure minimum cost and prevent operational delays.
- Repair crusher, including liner changes and oil systems, and monitor and change worn parts.
- Operate skid steers as needed.
- Perform basic plant preventative maintenance.
- Cross train with other positions to maximize abilities.
Requirements
- Able to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Valid driver's license is required.
- MSHA certification preferred.
- Previous quarry/mining experience preferred.
