About the position

The Groundperson position at Davey Utility Line Clearance involves providing essential support to tree workers in utility line clearance operations. This role is crucial for ensuring safety and efficiency on job sites by managing equipment, assisting with tree maintenance tasks, and controlling traffic as needed.

Responsibilities

• Control lowering ropes, limbs, and persons from aloft to ensure safety during operations.
• Supply tools and equipment to tree workers as required.
• Manage road and sidewalk traffic using warning devices and other methods to ensure safety.
• Cut, chip, and load brush and wood, and perform proper job site cleanup.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid driver's license required; commercial driver's license preferred depending on job requirements.
• Pesticide license if required by state law.
• Herbicide license is a plus.
• Line clearance certification if working near utility transmission lines.
• ISA Certified Tree Worker certification or willingness to obtain.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in tree care or utility line clearance operations.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures in the field.
