About the position
The Grounds Crew position at Kearney School District is responsible for maintaining the school facilities and surrounding grounds. This includes tasks such as snow removal, mowing, landscaping, and setting up sports fields for events. The role requires physical labor and the operation of various maintenance equipment to ensure the grounds are clean, safe, and presentable to the public.
Responsibilities
- Assist in maintenance and care of all grounds areas, including weed-eating and landscaped areas.
- Operate and maintain power-driven equipment (e.g., lawn mowers, weed eaters, tractors) for maintaining school grounds.
- Perform heavy physical labor for maintaining District grounds.
- Lift up to 50 pounds repetitively for moving commodities and deliveries.
- Repair playground facilities and outdoor structures to ensure safety.
- Operate snow removing equipment safely and report to work during snowy conditions.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Experience using maintenance equipment, including tractors and zero turn radius mowers.
- Experience setting up sports fields using paint stripers.
- Experience using a snow plow.
