About the position

Amentum is seeking a Grounds/General Maintenance Technician to support a Facilities Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Services Contract in Destin, Florida. This full-time position involves performing day-to-day support for all facilities under O&M operations. The technician will be responsible for general maintenance and repair of equipment and building structures, requiring practical skills and knowledge across various trades, although not necessarily expert-level proficiency in each area. The working hours for this position are typically Monday through Friday from 06:30 AM to 3:30 PM. The Grounds/General Maintenance Technician will prioritize maintaining a safe workplace, ensuring that safety is the highest priority in all operations. Compliance with Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements is essential, as is adherence to site policies and procedures. The technician will follow applicable codes such as the International Building Code (IBC) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards when necessary. Key responsibilities include painting structures and equipment, performing basic carpentry and plumbing tasks, conducting general masonry and concrete repairs, and handling sheetrock repairs. The technician will also be involved in heavy grounds maintenance activities, which encompass mowing, edging, blowing, weed eating, pruning, yard debris collection, road grading, pothole repairs, cleaning stormwater drains, pressure washing, and occasionally applying pesticides or herbicides. The technician will execute work orders generated from the site's Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and will be responsible for making standard shop computations related to job dimensions. They will select appropriate materials for tasks, repair various substrates such as metal, concrete, vinyl siding, and wood, and provide daily verbal feedback or detailed reports to the O&M supervisor. Additionally, the technician will prepare and submit detailed purchase requests for assigned tasks and assist in maintaining shop inventory for day-to-day items. The role may also involve moving furniture, assembling furniture, setting up for outside events, and collaborating with other trades to complete general tasks. The technician must be able to obtain and maintain forklift certification and work at heights using boom lifts, scissors, or man baskets, as well as maintain fall protection certification.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Clearance.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years of experience performing similar duties.
  • Provide applicable certifications.
  • Computer literacy to navigate online required training, timekeeping, and email.
  • A valid Driver's license from the applicant's home state is required.
  • Heavy equipment experience/certifications (can be waived).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly or as needed.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, reach, twist, and carry for extended periods.
  • Ability to stand 8-10 hours per day.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Be a problem solver or solution maker.
