About the position

The Grounds Supervisor at Wind Creek Chicago is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and aesthetic appeal of lawns, gardens, parks, and plant displays. This role involves leading and supervising maintenance and landscape crews, ensuring safety compliance, and performing routine maintenance tasks. The position requires a hands-on approach to managing outdoor maintenance activities, including snow removal and landscaping, while fostering a positive work environment that aligns with the company's values.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, assign tasks, and supervise maintenance and landscape crews.
  • Perform routine tasks in maintaining lawns and grounds, including seeding, fertilizing, mowing, and watering.
  • Respond to emergency situations during and after assigned work hours to resolve immediate safety concerns.
  • Assist in snow and ice removal to prevent accidents on walkways.
  • Install, plant, spray, and maintain flowerbeds, shrubs, and trees.
  • Maintain and repair sidewalks, roads, and parking lots.
  • Perform tasks in snow removal, leaf raking, tree cutting, and stump removal.
  • Operate job-related power equipment such as end loaders, snow blowers, and mowers.
  • Supervise, coordinate, monitor, and assign work to staff.
  • Request grounds maintenance and janitorial supplies from vendors in compliance with purchasing guidelines.
  • Perform safety inspections on equipment and facilities under supervision.
  • Assist in developing the assigned facilities' maintenance budget and evaluate needs for new equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records including assignments, time sheets, and maintenance records.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's Degree in a related field or two years of supervisory experience required.
  • OSHA 30 certification required.
  • One year experience as a Dual-Rate Supervisor in a PCI Gaming Department or two years in the hiring department required.
  • Possession of Illinois State Public Applicator or Operator License preferred, or equivalent certification from another state.
  • Two years of commercial or municipal grounds maintenance and/or landscaping experience required.
  • Valid and current State Driver's License with an insurable driving record required.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Possession of Illinois State Public Applicator or Operator License and Ornamental and Turf pest control certification preferred.
