About the position
The Grounds Technician I is responsible for performing routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on the grounds and infrastructure of the casino. This includes maintaining turf grass, shrubs, trees, and other plants, as well as ensuring the cleanliness and functionality of outdoor areas and facilities. The role requires a commitment to providing a safe and welcoming environment for guests while adhering to safety practices and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repair on grounds, parking garage, and landscaping.
- Care for and maintain turf grass, shrubs, trees, and other plants.
- Inspect plant materials for insects and diseases, and perform necessary replacements.
- Mow lawns, trim and edge around various structures, and clean flower beds.
- Set up, adjust, repair, and clean irrigation systems.
- Conduct inspections and general maintenance of casino buildings and grounds.
- Remove trash and debris from public areas and maintain cleanliness.
- Safely operate light vehicles and groundskeeping equipment.
- Participate in snow removal operations and maintain safety on walkways.
- Perform minor maintenance work using hand and power tools.
- Prepare written materials to document activities and repairs.
- Request equipment and supplies to maintain inventory.
- Respond to emergency situations during and after assigned work hours.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Six months of commercial or municipal grounds maintenance experience required.
- Valid State Driver's License and insurable driving record required.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English.
- Good hearing and eyesight.
