About the position

The Grounds Technician II is responsible for performing routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on grounds, turf grass, shrubs, trees, and other plants. This role supports the operations of Casino buildings and infrastructure, ensuring a well-maintained outdoor environment for guests and staff. The position requires a commitment to safety, quality, and customer service, contributing to a positive guest experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on grounds and landscapes.
  • Care for and maintain fences, roadways, driveways, parking lots, and other outdoor facilities.
  • Inspect plant materials for insects, disease, and damage, and identify replacements as needed.
  • Mow lawns, trim and edge around trees and shrubs, and maintain flower beds and other grounds.
  • Keep daily logs of watering and chemical spraying activities, including details of chemicals used.
  • Perform inspections and general maintenance of casino buildings and outdoor facilities.
  • Remove trash and debris from public areas and maintain cleanliness of grounds.
  • Apply chemicals safely and properly for groundskeeping tasks, following safety protocols.
  • Operate light vehicles and groundskeeping equipment safely and in compliance with traffic laws.
  • Assist in snow removal operations and maintain safety on walkways during winter conditions.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions as required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • At least three years of commercial or municipal grounds maintenance and/or landscaping experience.
  • Must hold one of the required credentials for pest control or irrigation certification.
  • Valid State Driver's License and insurable driving record required.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with heavy machinery operation.
  • Knowledge of horticulture and landscape design principles.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
