About the position
Under direct supervision, the groundskeeper performs unskilled to semi-skilled work to properly maintain the community grounds and equipment used to keep a manicured appearance. Work involves operating medium to light machinery and using hand tools to prune trees, mow and edge lawns, remove debris, and maintain plantings. The Groundskeeper completes work within the scheduled time frame, according to the budget, and priorities set by the supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Operate medium to light machinery and hand tools for landscaping tasks.
- Prune trees, mow and edge lawns, and remove debris.
- Maintain plantings and ensure a manicured appearance of the grounds.
- Make regular inspections of assigned areas for cleanliness and remove hazards.
- Monitor, maintain, and repair the irrigation system.
- Operate and maintain community fountains.
- Apply insecticides, herbicides, and fertilizers as needed.
Requirements
- 2-5 years of landscaping experience.
- Experience with planting, mowing grass, trimming hedges and shrubbery, pruning trees, and maintaining flower beds.
- Ability to operate tractors, power lawn mowers, string trimmers, and various hand tools.
- Knowledge of proper maintenance and repair of landscaping equipment.
