About the position

The Summer Research Program Intern position at MIT Lincoln Laboratory focuses on secure software, embedded systems, and cryptography. Interns will engage in cutting-edge research and development to enhance the security and resiliency of mission-critical systems, including cyber-physical and pure cyber systems. This role offers mentorship and opportunities to participate in educational and social events within a collaborative and innovative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of advanced technologies for secure and resilient systems.
  • Conduct research and development in secure software and embedded systems engineering.
  • Participate in group activities, including educational and social events.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a BS (junior year or later preferred), MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Knowledge or experience in computer security, operating systems security, and virtualization.
  • Experience with applied cryptography, security protocols, and secure communications.
  • Proficiency in software architecture, software engineering, and programming languages such as Rust, C/C++, and Python.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems design and development, including C and VHDL.
  • Understanding of DevOps and the software development lifecycle, including design, documentation, and testing.
  • Academic research experience or publications in computer security, resiliency, or cryptography.
