About the position

The Executive Account Manager at Heffernan's Walnut Creek, CA branch is a lead role responsible for training, mentoring, and assisting an assigned account management service team. This position provides technical support and education for the service and sales teams while also assisting in new business sales. The role involves managing various types of accounts, including fully insured, partially self-funded, or self-insured accounts, ensuring high-quality service and compliance with internal policies.

Responsibilities

  • Support and supervise the Account Management Service Team, assisting with workflow and workload balance.
  • Facilitate weekly collaborative staff meetings and assist with employee performance reviews.
  • Assist in talent acquisition and managing performance improvement.
  • Provide training for new and existing team members.
  • Guide the service team in handling difficult and complex service issues.
  • Manage HIB internal policies and procedures to safeguard against potential Errors and Omissions issues.
  • Educate clients on services and coverage options.
  • Conduct marketing and account management for assigned clients, coordinating renewal marketing processes.
  • Prepare written annual account service plans and conduct annual open enrollment meetings, health fairs, and webinars.
  • Audit client information, premium, and commissions in the HIB client management system for assigned accounts.
  • Maintain Benefits Administration systems for assigned accounts, ensuring thorough documentation and adherence to E&O procedures.

Requirements

  • High School graduate/GED required.
  • Active Life & Health license.
  • Minimum of 7 years working experience in group health insurance or with a benefits brokerage/consulting firm.
  • Ability to effectively train, mentor, and develop service team members.
  • Adaptable, self-starter with experienced decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, both written and oral.
  • Problem solving, analytical, and marketing skills required.
  • Critical thinker capable of identifying complex problems and implementing solutions.
  • Organized and able to manage time effectively.
  • Proficient with MS Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with experience in manipulating complex Excel data and pivot tables.
