About the position

The Group Counselor position at Chestnut Health Systems involves providing integrated outpatient behavioral health care to clients in Belleville, IL. The role focuses on group counseling and promoting recovery through evidence-based practices, while also linking clients to community resources. The position is full-time with daytime hours and offers a supportive environment for both clients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Help consumers regain control over their lives through self-directed recovery by providing services identified in treatment/recovery/safety plans, primarily group counseling.
• Promote the recovery model of treatment including trauma-informed care, hope, respect, empowerment, health/wellness, and spirituality/connectedness.
• Use evidence-based practices focusing on individual, family, and group therapy.
• Link clients to community resources including DCFS, probation/parole, courts, medical care, and natural supports.
• Promote positive interactions within Chestnut and with the community to sustain a favorable program reputation.

Requirements

• Must have a Bachelor's degree with 5 years' supervised mental health experience and obtain Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (CADC) within 2 years of hire; OR have a Bachelor's degree and CADC in good standing with the State of Illinois.
• Must be willing to be trained in the Community Reinforcement Approach (CRA) and achieve CRA certification within 3 months following training.
• Requires basic computer skills and experience to include MS Word, Outlook, Teams, email and an electronic medical record (EMR).
