About the position

The Group Creative Director (GCD) plays a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of creative assignments. This position involves leading a team to develop innovative concepts and visual ideas for various communication forms, including advertising and promotional materials. The GCD is responsible for overseeing the entire creative development process, ensuring that projects align with client briefs and are executed effectively. This role requires a dynamic thinker who can inspire and motivate creative teams throughout project lifecycles.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the integration of all elements on clients/programs/projects
  • Guides and mentors Creative teams to deliver innovative and engaging creative concepts and execution that are strategically sound
  • Oversees the creative execution and quality on a daily basis to ensure timely, quality, efficient delivery
  • Presents creative strategies and ideas to internal team and external clients
  • Reviews all copy/design developed to ensure alignment with brand standards
  • Builds strong relationships and maintains consistent communication with clients and team members
  • Partners with project management to scope/estimate projects and monitor time/budgets
  • Monitors the latest innovations in communications channels/technologies
  • Assists with managing relationships with outside contractors
  • Develops a thorough understanding of clients' brands and competitive environment
  • Supervises, inspires, and motivates a team of writers and art directors
  • Maintains consistent communication regarding projects, clients, and staff
  • Communicates and reinforces standards of excellence in creative execution
  • Provides creative direction and feedback to art directors and writers
  • Acts as a key Creative contact for senior clients and agency staff
  • Partners with other competency leads to identify growth opportunities
  • Attends and participates in briefs, product group meetings, and client presentations
  • Develops program strategies along with Client Service/Strategy partners
  • Facilitates the Creative team's understanding of program strategy
  • Encourages exploration of multiple creative solutions
  • Contributes to building a positive agency culture
  • Supports the recruitment, hiring, training, and retention of staff

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of agency experience as an art director
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a writing- or art direction-focused concentration
  • Proven ability as an effective team player
  • Strong design sense and presentation skills
  • Ability to collaborate with strategy/planners
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and develop creative talent
  • Solid knowledge of the creative development process
  • Self-motivated and a natural problem-solver
  • Able to direct film, video, and still photo shoots
  • Proficient with Adobe Suite and Figma
  • Experience with video and motion graphics
