About the position

The Group Director, Operations - US Fashion Strategy and Store Operations is a pivotal role within Walmart that focuses on developing and driving operational strategies across multiple divisions and strategic business units. This position is responsible for setting operational objectives and providing leadership to ensure that the vision and strategy are translated into actionable plans. The Group Director will guide the alignment of functional and departmental strategic business plans, develop a multi-year plan to enhance performance in profit and loss or customer experience, and serve as a business and operations expert advocating for customer experience in relation to operations. This role also involves benchmarking operations against industry standards and consulting with the stores division and other companies to identify best practices. In addition to strategic planning, the Group Director oversees the execution of large-scale, complex projects and programs. This includes managing project plans, creating timelines, organizing communication materials, and ensuring successful roll-outs and implementations. The role requires the development of recommendations for decision support by sourcing, organizing, analyzing, and interpreting data, influencing stakeholders, and providing insights on business trends. The Group Director will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to develop processes and strategies that align with business goals. The position also entails overseeing the implementation of business solutions by building relationships with key stakeholders, developing new innovations for site selection, and continuously improving selection methodologies. The Group Director will analyze and interpret information to improve business efficiency, develop creative solutions to reduce costs, and ensure data accuracy. Furthermore, the role involves providing overall direction by analyzing business objectives, developing and implementing business strategies, and promoting a customer-centric environment. To attract and maintain a skilled workforce, the Group Director will diagnose capability gaps, recruit and develop talent, and support mentorship and succession planning. The role also emphasizes cultivating an environment of integrity and ethics, integrating these values into all programs and practices, and supporting community outreach initiatives. Overall, this position is crucial for overseeing the operations of all fashion departments and designing effective process strategies to enhance efficiency and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic operational and process plans aligned with the overall objectives of all fashion departments.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the fashion department, including supply chain management, inventory control, sales operations, and customer service.
  • Design, implement, and monitor effective process strategies to enhance operational efficiency, reduce waste, and increase profitability.
  • Regularly evaluate operational and process performance using key metrics, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Lead, motivate, and manage a high-performing team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, design teams, marketing teams, and senior management.
  • Develop, manage, and review the operational budget, ensuring cost-efficiency and the achievement of financial objectives.
  • Identify potential operational risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Ensure all operations and processes adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Operations, or related field.
  • 7 years' experience in operations, project management, or related area, or 9 years' experience in operations, project management, or related area.
  • 5 years' supervisory experience.
