About the position
The Group Exercise Instructor I position at Crossroads YMCA is a part-time role focused on delivering high-quality group fitness instruction in a supportive and engaging environment. The instructor will lead various fitness classes, foster community among members, and assist in membership development and retention. This role is essential in promoting healthy living and social responsibility within the community.
Responsibilities
- Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes as directed by the supervisor.
- Builds effective, authentic relationships with members and helps them connect with each other and the YMCA.
- Models welcoming, connecting, motivating, and affirming behaviors.
- Asks and answers questions from members to support their health and well-being goals.
- Celebrates member achievements related to program or personal goals.
- Observes and adjusts approach to support all members' capabilities and needs.
- Maintains knowledge of wellness trends to provide effective information to members.
- Obtains and maintains required certifications and participates in mandatory training.
- Keeps accurate class attendance records to support retention and growth.
- Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events as designated.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures and responds to emergency situations.
Requirements
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED & First Aid and New Employee Orientation.
- Complete Foundations of Group Exercise within 30 days of hire.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to relate and communicate effectively to diverse groups of people.
