About the position

The Group Finance Manager at HNTB is responsible for managing the financial aspects of a designated service line or portfolio of projects within the office. This role involves strategic financial planning, budget management, and ensuring compliance with internal processes while fostering efficient financial operations. The position requires collaboration with project teams and leadership to deliver tailored financial solutions that support the firm's goals and enhance project profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Office Finance Manager to create and maintain budgets for a designated service line or project portfolio.
  • Monitor monthly results, analyze variances, and recommend solutions to support goal achievement.
  • Provide financial oversight and guidance for projects, overseeing budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and reporting processes.
  • Ensure adherence to internal processes and procedures, fostering efficient and compliant financial operations.
  • Continuously improve processes for better efficiency.
  • Manage a team, efficiently allocating resources to projects for a designated service line or project portfolio.
  • Serve as the escalation point for the project finance team and foster cross-functional planning and collaboration.
  • Provide financial management guidance to project teams to ensure appropriate setup and delivery of contractual obligations.
  • Champion office cash management goals, ensuring effective cash collections and timely resolution of delinquent billings.
  • Offer financial forecasting, modeling, and analysis to guide teams in adhering to standardized business processes.
  • Act as an office liaison with the cash management organization to achieve collaborative results.
  • Participate in the pursuit process to position HNTB for successful project delivery.
  • Utilize knowledge of contract terms to influence favorable proposals for optimizing cash and profitability outcomes.
  • Lead office month-end reporting and revenue recognition activities for a designated service line or project portfolio.
  • Maintain the integrity of financial data for accurate reporting and projecting of financial results.
  • Consult with project managers to provide an accurate representation of project performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 7 years of financial, project accounting/analysis, or related experience.
  • 2 years of project and/or people management/mentoring experience.
  • In lieu of education, 11 years of financial, project accounting/analysis, or related work experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Project Management certification or other contracting/project management certifications.
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant Finance, Accounting, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • Master's degree in business or engineering.
  • Knowledge of project financial management/cost controls.
  • Knowledge of accounting/financial principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of A/E industry.
