About the position

The Group Home Foster Parent position at One Hope United involves providing care and supervision for up to four youth aged 12-18 in a residential setting. The role focuses on personal care, housing, meals, academics, recreational activities, and trauma-informed care, utilizing the Family Teaching Model. House Parents are live-in supervisors responsible for creating a nurturing family-style environment and supporting the mental, physical, and social development of the youth.

Responsibilities

  • Provides supervision of youth in accordance with OHU, Department of Children and Families (DCF) and ChildNet policies.
  • Maintains a therapeutic home environment.
  • Interacts with all youth using a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach.
  • Teaches, models, and participates in individual and group instruction in daily living, recreational activities, social skills, emotional regulation skills, and independent living skills as prescribed by each youth's Individual Treatment Plan.
  • Continually trains and maintains certification in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) or other approved behavior modification programs.
  • Follows OHU Residential Program Plan, including daily schedule, administration of expectations and associated consequences, and mental health treatment of youth in residential care.
  • Makes adjustments to daily schedule as needed to support a nurturing, educational, and positive environment.
  • Establishes and sustains positive relationships with youth's biological parents, social workers, counselors, child psychologists, teachers, mentors, and treatment team members.
  • Engages and interacts with a diverse demographic effectively.
  • Works collaboratively with a treatment team to provide quality services and exceed expected outcomes.
  • Participates in weekly clinical, staff, and Child and Family Team Meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field.
  • 3 years of related experience strongly preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record with required levels of coverage for auto insurance.
