About the position
The Arc of Central Alabama is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Our mission is to provide comprehensive support and services that help individuals live their most independent and fulfilling lives. We offer a variety of programs including residential support, day programs, employment assistance, early intervention, and behavior management. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of group home facilities, ensuring the health, safety, and development of both residents and staff. Your leadership will be instrumental in creating a supportive and nurturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of assigned group homes, ensuring overall health, safety, and development.
- Create meaningful relationships with individuals served and implement person-centered support plans.
- Develop and implement individual service plans in collaboration with the team.
- Independently supervise all functions of the group home, including staff and residents.
- Schedule staff shifts and approve earned time, ensuring adequate coverage.
- Schedule and participate in various community outings with residents.
- Maintain group home facilities and perform necessary administrative tasks.
- Transport individuals served to appointments and community activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree in human services or related field preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals with IDD preferred; supervisory experience preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills.
- Must be flexible with hours and available on-call daily for assigned homes.
- Reliable transportation, valid Alabama driver's license, and ability to pass pre-employment screening.
