About the position

The Group Home Manager oversees the operations of a small group home in Monmouth County, dedicated to providing care for clients with autism and developmental disabilities. This role involves direct care responsibilities, scheduling medical appointments, managing staff, and ensuring compliance with licensing standards. The manager plays a crucial role in supporting clients' daily needs and facilitating their progress towards personal goals.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct care to clients as needed, ensuring they attend medical appointments and activities.
  • Schedules and accompanies clients to medical appointments, ensuring they receive necessary emergency care.
  • Conducts consumer meetings and ensures dietary needs are met through proper menu planning.
  • Prepares monthly staff schedules and manages shift coverage as needed.
  • Provides on-call backup and assists with emergency situations.
  • Monitors client progress and ensures staff support in achieving individual goals.
  • Maintains adequate supervision of clients in the community and provides safe transportation when necessary.
  • Ensures compliance with licensing and accreditation standards by maintaining appropriate staff ratios and high-quality services.
  • Prepares and submits program documents and records on time, including attendance and progress reports.
  • Conducts fire and emergency drills as required and ensures new staff receive proper orientation and training.
  • Participates in management meetings and collaborates with agency leadership.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • At least two years of experience working with persons with developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to understand and implement individualized supports.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Successful clearance of local and state background checks, drug screening, and physical examination.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Completion of pre-service DDD trainings.
