About the position

The Group Lead for Instructional Systems Design at CAE USA is responsible for providing managerial oversight of the Instructional Systems team located at McConnell AFB, KS. This role is pivotal in maintaining the integrity of all released Instructional Systems Design (ISD) materials for both proposal and program execution purposes. The Group Lead will oversee and support the development of proposal processes and deliverables, which include solution development for ISD and courseware, as well as associated proposal narratives that incorporate input from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). Additionally, the position involves overseeing the design and development of ISD deliverables such as Task Lists, Objective Hierarchies, and syllabi, ensuring that all course materials are developed in alignment with intended learning outcomes through collaboration with SMEs. The Group Lead will establish and maintain professional relationships with both prospective and current customers, ensuring that the ISD department adheres to applicable proposal, contract, and ISD processes in accordance with customer requirements. This role requires a proactive approach to managing the development and review of proposal and program course materials, which includes selecting appropriate instructional methods, developing instructionally sound course objectives, and designing valid assessment tools. The Group Lead will also manage staffing levels, employee knowledge and skill inventory, and department training to meet current and projected program requirements. In addition to these responsibilities, the Group Lead will attend ISD-related customer interface and internal meetings, generating necessary materials or slides for presentations. They will assign tasks to technical representatives within the ISD department, ensuring that all documentation is traceable and adheres to established Quality Management System (QMS) standards. The role also involves consulting with customers on performance management and instructional strategies, interfacing with project managers to confirm adherence to instructional methods, and managing continual improvement within the department by designing and enhancing learning tools and processes. The Group Lead will be responsible for developing, prioritizing, and meeting deliverable budget, schedule, and scope milestones, while also ensuring a safe and secure work environment for all team members.

Responsibilities

  • Leads a small Instructional Systems team at McConnell AFB KS ensuring department maintains all resources and competencies required to perform essential business functions
  • Manages development and reviews proposal and program course materials with input from SMEs including selection of appropriate instructional methods and development of instructionally sound course objectives
  • Manages on-site staffing levels, employee knowledge and skill inventory, and department training to meet current and projected program requirements
  • Manages ISD tools and licenses to meet current and projected program requirements
  • Attends ISD-related customer interface and internal meetings and generates necessary materials or slides for required presentations
  • Assigns tasks to the appropriate technical representative(s) within the ISD department according to ISD department milestones
  • Ensures traceability is maintained on all baseline and updated ISD documentation in accordance with established Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Consults with customers on performance management and instructional strategies
  • Interfaces with project manager to confirm instructional methods and sequences are being followed
  • Manages continual improvement in department by designing and improving learning tools and processes
  • Develops, prioritizes, and meets deliverable budget, schedule, and scope milestones
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree or equivalent ISD experience preferred, minimum Bachelor Degree or higher in Instructional System Design or Adult Education/Learning
  • Five (5) years of military related experience providing Instructional System Design services
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of applications, including developing macros and applying formulae for Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to prioritize work requirements with minimal supervision
  • Results-oriented approach to performing work
  • Strong organizational skills and business acumen
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity while remaining customer focused
  • Understanding of military protocols and customs is essential
  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance
  • Incumbent must clear a Military background check for access to military base

Nice-to-haves

  • KC-46 or modern military aircraft maintenance training related experience providing Instructional Design Services
  • Prior experience in designing/developing aviation related training products
  • Microsoft Office Specialist (MoS), or higher, certification in 2016 Excel and Word
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project
