We are seeking a Group Lead for our Systems and Mission Analysis Department, which is responsible for identifying and applying innovative technologies to solve complex Systems Engineering problems. This role is pivotal in providing practical solutions to significant challenges faced by the government in areas such as defense, intelligence, and cybersecurity. The Group Lead will be part of a leadership team that emphasizes analytical and quantitative Systems Engineering and Mission Engineering. This includes Systems of Systems (SoS) engineering, trade space analysis, and decision support under uncertainty, leveraging modern Digital Engineering (DE) and Artificial Intelligence for Systems Engineering (AI4SE) methodologies. The successful candidate will model complex system architectures, evaluate alternatives, articulate uncertainties, and translate analysis into actionable recommendations for government agencies. Additionally, the role involves business development, ensuring technical quality, and mentoring early career staff, fostering their growth and development within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Modeling architectures of complex systems using standards-based languages (e.g., SysML).
  • Evaluating and comparing alternative architectures using qualitative and quantitative techniques; exploring large tradespaces.
  • Articulating major uncertainties associated with systems architectures, defining risks and opportunities associated with the uncertainties.
  • Translating analysis results into actionable recommendations for US Government agencies.
  • Developing new business through outreach to program divisions.
  • Developing and executing department technical and business goals.
  • Ensuring technical quality of deliverables.
  • Hiring and onboarding new staff.
  • Onboarding and supervision of early career staff in McLean.
  • Serving as a trusted advisor to staff, helping them in their technical growth and development.
  • Providing informed, concrete, productive feedback on staff performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related field.
  • 2+ years of technical leadership experience.
  • Active Top Secret clearance is required for consideration.
  • Demonstrated experience in staff development.
  • Documented success designing/developing Digital Engineering (DE) solutions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in business development and networking within MITRE.
  • Deep technical skills in systems architecture modeling, trade space analysis, systems design and development, multidisciplinary modeling and simulation, and data analysis.
  • Experience with AI4SE.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science or related field.
  • 8+ years' experience developing MBSE and DE solutions.
