About the position

As a Maintenance Group Leader, you will play a crucial role in managing the day-to-day functions of our maintenance team at the Normal, IL facility. This position requires a proactive approach to supervising preventive maintenance schedules, conducting preventive and predictive inspections, and executing repairs to minimize downtime. You will report directly to the Maintenance Manager and be responsible for fostering a culture of safety and efficiency within the team. In this role, you will demonstrate strong communication and people management skills, providing hands-on assistance and expertise to team members to ensure maintenance-related functions are completed effectively. You will assign and track all Preventative Maintenance Activities, oversee training and safety protocols for the entire shop team, and support strategic planning for line maintenance efficiency. Additionally, you will be involved in the introduction of new equipment, spare parts setup and management, and the creation of team member development plans. A key aspect of your role will be to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, welding, and robotic systems while managing a fast-paced environment with a positive attitude. You will create a preventative maintenance system that ensures minimal production line disturbances and establish strong team member relations, focusing on people development, coaching, and mentoring. The position may require occasional travel off-site for training and equipment buy-offs, and you should be prepared to work weekends and extended days as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day functions of the maintenance team.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing facility.
  • Previous maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent professional experience in plant maintenance leadership.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as governmental regulations and safety rules.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Strong communication skills, especially in high-pressure environments.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and other computer skills (Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to manage in a fast-paced environment with a positive attitude.
