About the position

The Group Leader, Operations - 3rd Shift position is a critical role within the manufacturing environment, providing essential support to the Operations Management team. This position is responsible for ensuring that product quality, cost control, compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), safety, and the execution of the production schedule are met to fulfill customer service requirements. The Group Leader will demonstrate strong leadership skills, committing to employee feedback and developmental processes, while coordinating all functions related to Filling, Inspection, and Packaging. This role involves overseeing the work of other employees, providing direction, and prioritizing work assignments to ensure efficient operations. In this position, the Group Leader will adhere to all environmental, health, and safety standard operating procedures (SOPs), policies, and procedures, including any department-specific requirements. Daily activities will include coordinating and overseeing the hourly production staff, providing necessary coaching and leadership assistance. The Group Leader will also be responsible for initiating and completing investigative reports for any production-related process deviations, providing phase-in training for both new and existing employees, and resolving conflicts or general problems as they arise. The role requires evaluating and enforcing current practices within areas of responsibility, coordinating orders for production-related materials, and supporting management and engineering projects as assigned. The Group Leader will maintain training records for individual departments and production areas, and may be required to create and run reports using Access, Excel, ISO Train, and Line Management Systems to track line performance. Additionally, the Group Leader will perform inspection processes as necessary based on line or room running, including startup samples, house samples, and in-process inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to achieve product quality, cost control, cGMP compliance, safety, and execution of the production schedule.
  • Coordinate and oversee daily activities of hourly production staff, providing leadership assistance and coaching.
  • Initiate and complete investigative reports for production-related process deviations.
  • Provide phase-in training for new and existing employees.
  • Resolve conflicts and handle general problems/requests as necessary.
  • Evaluate and enforce current practices within areas of responsibility.
  • Coordinate orders for production-related materials.
  • Support management and engineering projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent with a minimum of five years experience in a non-GMP environment or a minimum of two years experience within a GMP manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills or potential leadership abilities in previous work.
  • Ability and working knowledge of how to use a computer.
  • Knowledgeable in site training management systems preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in site label verification vision systems preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in line management data capture systems preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations associated with production documentation analysis and problem solving.
  • Technically oriented with the ability to analyze problems and suggest solutions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associates Degree with a minimum of two years work experience in a GMP or non-GMP environment.
