About the position

The Group Manager for Commercial Bank at M&T Bank is responsible for overseeing commercial relationships within a designated group or geographic area. This role involves managing a team of relationship managers, developing significant client relationships, and ensuring the growth of net interest and fee income. The position also emphasizes risk management, staff development, and effective sales management.

Responsibilities

• Grow the net interest income and fee income for the team.
• Manage the credit quality of the team and report to senior management on deteriorating credits and trends.
• Oversee negotiations for all transactions handled by the team.
• Negotiate, structure, and approve loans and terms within lending limits.
• Train and coach the team, providing support for their development.
• Manage the sales process and represent the Bank in civic and community activities.
• Exercise managerial authority regarding staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, and terminations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or four years of relevant experience.
• Ten years of commercial lending experience.
• Previous sales management experience.
• Knowledge of banking credit principles.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills.
• Strong relationship management skills.
