About the position

The Group Risk Specialist role focuses on Operational Risk Management (ORM) within Treasury and Finance at TD Bank. This position provides a comprehensive range of risk management expertise to business leaders, leading the implementation of risk frameworks and management activities to mitigate enterprise-wide risk exposures. The role requires substantial knowledge in risk management and involves managing complex programs, solving intricate problems, and influencing senior stakeholders to align with best practices and strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the implementation of risk frameworks and management activities to mitigate enterprise-wide risk exposures.
  • Provide oversight, commentary, and recommendations based on overall strategy and industry best practices.
  • Develop and implement specific standards, policies, and processes to identify and mitigate operational risk exposures.
  • Analyze potential risks and ensure escalation of key risks to appropriate areas and executive review.
  • Coordinate activities related to core operational risk disciplines, including Risk & Control Self-Assessment and Regulatory Compliance.
  • Direct the development and monitoring of Key Risk Indicators and facilitate communication of risk issues among business segments.
  • Conduct internal and external research projects and support the development of presentations to management.
  • Participate in cross-functional initiatives as a subject matter expert to identify risks and provide guidance.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree or technical certificate and/or 7+ years relevant experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of risk management governance, programs, policies, and practices.
  • Knowledge of risk management environment, standards, regulations, and mitigation.
  • Ability to establish goals and objectives that support the strategic plan.
  • Skill in mentoring and coaching team members.
  • Advanced skill in using analytical software tools and data analysis methods.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships across teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Treasury Operational experience including Liquidity and Investments.
  • Relationship management experience.
  • Knowledge of Treasury Service products and credit risk processes.
