About the position

The Group Sales Manager at Marriott International, Inc. is responsible for meeting and exceeding revenue goals by developing new group accounts and growing existing hotel accounts. This role involves direct sales, key account management, and new account development, utilizing yield management techniques to enhance the hotel's financial performance. The position requires strong customer relationship management and effective communication skills to ensure superior account service and increased revenues.

Responsibilities

  • Targets results-oriented high revenue potential sales calls to ensure a successful direct sales program.
  • Maximizes current hotel key accounts by identifying and capturing those that offer revenue growth.
  • Captures competitor's accounts through networking, research, and surveys to generate new business.
  • Follows up on all leads within 48 hours to create new business for the hotel.
  • Plans and implements an ongoing Targeted Account Development 'hit list' to create new revenue.
  • Utilizes yield management techniques by profitably negotiating room rates and function space commitments.
  • Maintains an organized and up-to-date file management system for client service.
  • Develops strong customer relationships through frequent communication and professional interaction.
  • Conducts research and studies the market to capitalize on the hotel's strengths and competitors' weaknesses.

Requirements

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
  • Six months minimum in sales or customer service related position or hotel experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of general sales techniques and yield management experience required.
  • Highly developed customer service skills and effective business writing skills are necessary.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing.
