About the position

The Group Sales Manager at OKANA Resort is responsible for securing groups and conventions by establishing and nurturing relationships with customers. This role requires a dynamic, business-minded professional with a diverse selling background, capable of excelling in a fast-paced environment. The position involves initiating new sales, managing booking and revenue goals, and participating in strategic planning to enhance the resort's market presence and financial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate new sales, prospect and qualify leads, and solicit potential clients.
  • Carry a booking and revenue goal for group rooms, banquets, A/V, and meeting room rental fees.
  • Utilize Delphi FDC to maintain accurate notes and traces for accounts.
  • Identify new business opportunities, build key relationships, and devise revenue-increasing strategies.
  • Assist in the creation of sales generation strategies.
  • Participate in leadership activities and strategic planning.
  • Assist in the development of annual sales plan/budget for sales goals and strategies.
  • Responsible for weekly and monthly reports needed for revenue meetings, leadership meetings, and ownership meetings.
  • Ensure responsible group contracts and agreements while managing risk to the properties within these agreements.
  • Participate in the development of a strategic account plan for demand generators in the market.
  • Research competitor's sales team strategies to identify ways to grow occupancy and RevPAR and increase market share.
  • Participate in sales strategy meetings to provide and solicit team input weekly.
  • Review the STAR report, competitive shopping reports, and use other resources to maintain awareness of the hotel's market position.
  • Execute sales calls to acquire new business and/or close on business.
  • Evaluate and support partnership participation, deployment, and fams.
  • Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics that inspire employees.
  • Ensure proper billing and maintain good working relationships with other departments, employees, and guests.
  • Maintain professional relationships with customers to continue re-booking their business and penetrate new business opportunities.
  • Draft proposals, letters, and contracts.
  • Prospect all potential avenues for group business.
  • Qualify customers for group, catering, and transient business.
  • Service all groups while in-house as required by level of commitment in contracts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years sales experience, preferably in hotels, resorts, or waterparks.
  • Negotiation skills and networking savvy.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Ability to execute a Sales and Marketing plan that aligns with the resort's financial objectives.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Willingness to travel to make resort presentations.
