About the position

The Group Sales & Service Manager is responsible for soliciting and managing accounts within designated market segments to enhance hotel revenues. This role involves prospecting, closing deals, and maintaining relationships with clients, while also ensuring adherence to sales budgets and company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Meet or exceed set sales goals.
  • Operate the Sales Department within the established sales expense budget.
  • Participate in required Manager on Duty (M.O.D.) and Saturday office coverage as scheduled.
  • Initiate and follow up on sales leads.
  • Maintain and participate in an active sales solicitation program.
  • Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate market trends.
  • Regularly contact existing accounts based on the Account Coverage Program.
  • Meet or exceed sales solicitation call goals assigned by the Director of Sales.
  • Invite clients to the hotel for entertainment, lunches, tours, and site inspections.
  • Assist in implementing special promotions related to direct sales segments.
  • Prepare required reports in a timely manner.
  • Familiarize with Highgate Hotel sales policies and techniques to maximize occupancy and Average Daily Rate (ADR).
  • Conduct thorough site inspections of the hotel with clients.
  • Utilize the computerized sales management system for managing hotel business.
  • Meet and greet onsite contacts.
  • Abide by Prime Selling Time (PST).
  • Develop networking opportunities through community and professional associations.
  • Review meeting planner evaluations with the Director of Sales for follow-up.
  • Entertain clients and handle inquiries as part of the Inquiry Day Program.

Requirements

  • College course work in a related field is helpful.
  • Experience in a hotel or related field is preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Proficient in Windows and company-approved spreadsheets and word processing.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels of employees and guests.
  • Ability to listen, understand, and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests.
  • Strong multitasking and prioritization skills to meet deadlines.
  • Attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented approach to all encounters with guests and employees.
  • Regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards is required.
  • High standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing nametags.
  • Ability to handle problems effectively, including anticipating and solving issues as necessary.
  • Ability to understand and evaluate complex information and data from various sources.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in sales or marketing within the hospitality industry.
  • Familiarity with hotel management software and sales systems.

Benefits

  • Annual salary range of $70,000-$80,000.
