About the position

The Financial Analyst position at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints involves managing and safeguarding financial resources to support the Church's religious mission. The role includes preparing and analyzing financial statements and budgets, training personnel in financial principles, and performing internal reviews. The position operates under a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for remote work up to four days a week, with at least one required day in the office.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, analyze, and review financial statements and budgets.
  • Prepare management reports and train personnel in financial principles.
  • Perform internal reviews and some accounting functions.
  • Reconcile appropriation and cash flow budgets to the general ledger.
  • Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Identify trends and potential areas of concern in financial data.
  • Initiate basic adjustments and report actions as needed.
  • Conduct on-site internal control reviews and cost studies.
  • Create reports, charts, and graphs illustrating financial findings.
  • Work with division managers to resolve financial discrepancies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management.
  • Five to eight years of relevant experience in accounting, auditing, or business management.
  • Demonstrated understanding of accounting principles and Church accounting systems.
  • Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software.

Nice-to-haves

  • CMA, CPA, or MBA certification preferred.
  • Experience with Church accounting systems.
