About the position
The GSE Lead Mechanic at Menzies Aviation is responsible for leading and directing the activities of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) mechanics at Dulles International Airport. This role involves performing mechanical duties, ensuring safety inspections, and maintaining all vehicles and equipment. The position also includes leadership training and opportunities for advancement within the company.
Responsibilities
- Lead and direct the activities of other GSE mechanics.
- Perform mechanical duties as required.
- Operate diagnostic equipment and read schematics (electrical, air, hydraulic).
- Verify that vehicles and equipment can pass appropriate safety inspections.
- Maintain, repair, and service all aspects of vehicles and equipment.
- Determine the need and extent of repair work based on operator's reports and testing equipment.
- Assist in instructing Mechanic 2 on work procedures applicable to their level.
- Inspect and approve work of Mechanic 2.
- Complete required documentation and perform data entry.
- Lead GSE team in all aspects of GSE business group.
Requirements
- Vocational/Specialized Training.
- 5 years' experience in automotive/mechanical work.
- Experience operating diagnostic equipment.
- Certification from a recognized program (preferred).
- Valid Driver's License.
