About the position

The GSOC Associate Watch Officer plays a crucial role in maintaining and operating the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) at Erie Insurance, ensuring the safety and security of the home office complex and designated field offices. This position operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and is responsible for monitoring critical technical security and fire/life safety systems. Under the guidance of Senior GSOC Watch Officers, the Associate Watch Officer will follow established protocols and operational procedures to respond to alarms, dispatch security personnel, and communicate with emergency agencies. The role requires a proactive approach to security, utilizing the digital video surveillance system to enhance safety and protect employees and assets. The Associate Watch Officer will also be responsible for real-time intelligence regarding event escalation and emergency situations, including executing contingency and continuity plans for onsite offices and regional facilities. This includes monitoring emergency employee phones, duress alarm locations, and intercom stations, and formally initiating responses to emergencies according to established guidelines. The position requires collaboration with public authorities and the preparation of documentation and reports for security-related incidents, ensuring clear and concise records are maintained. This is an in-office position with a rotating shift schedule, and the successful candidate must be willing to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays. The role is essential for the overall security operations of Erie Insurance, and the incumbent will be expected to perform additional duties as requested by supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and operate the 24/7 Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) for fire and security alarms.
  • Dispatch internal security officers and external emergency agencies for alarm responses.
  • Monitor and operate ERIE's digital video surveillance CCTV system to enhance safety and security.
  • Provide real-time intelligence regarding event escalation and emergency situations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Two years' experience working with security systems, card access systems, digital video systems, or fire/life safety systems required.
  • Experience in an emergency command center or security surveillance environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Operating systems and Microsoft Office preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with security and fire/life safety policies, codes, and practices preferred.
  • Experience with database, spreadsheet, and report writing software preferred.
