About the position

The Guest Advocate role at Target focuses on delivering exceptional guest service and creating a welcoming shopping experience. This position involves engaging with guests, addressing their needs, and promoting various services and offerings to enhance guest loyalty. The role is dynamic, requiring effective communication, problem-solving skills, and the ability to adapt to different guest interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience by delivering the service standard
  • Create a welcoming experience by authentically greeting all guests
  • Observe to quickly understand whether a guest needs assistance or wants to interact
  • Engage with guests in a genuine way, asking questions to better understand their specific needs
  • Be knowledgeable about the tools, products, and services available in the total store to solve issues for the guest
  • Thank the guest in a genuine way and let them know we're happy they chose to shop at Target
  • Scan and bag all guest items efficiently and accurately
  • Work efficiently to minimize guest wait time while maintaining guest service, accuracy, and quality
  • Make the guest aware of current and upcoming brand launches, store activities, and events
  • Know and speak to the benefits of Target Loyalty programs with every guest
  • Understand and show guests how to use Wallet and the other features within the Target App
  • Be familiar with all fulfillment services and know how to direct the guest to enroll, activate and use them
  • Attempt every return and follow register prompts, partnering with immediate Leaders as needed
  • Partner with Leaders to de-escalate negative situations and recover the guest shopping experience
  • Deliver easy and accurate service to all Order Pick Up, Drive Up, and Registry guests
  • Maintain a clean, clutter-free work area
  • Stock supplies during store open hours while being available for the guest
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance
  • Work in a safe manner at all times; identify and correct hazards; comply with all safety policies and best practices
  • Support guest services such as order pick up and Drive-up Orders, maintaining compliance with laws.

Requirements

  • Communicating effectively, including using positive language and being attentive to guests' needs
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members
  • Attention to detail while multi-tasking
  • Willingness to educate guests and engage around products and services
  • Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment
  • Accurately handle cash register operations and cash transactions
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and humidity
  • Ability to scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely
  • Flexible work schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift.
