About the position

The Guest Services Receptionist at Stamford Health plays a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service to guests, including patients, families, and staff. This position is responsible for greeting and directing guests, answering phone calls, and ensuring a welcoming environment in the main lobby. The receptionist will also manage the Visitor Pass System, assist with the delivery of flowers and belongings, and maintain the aesthetic upkeep of the lobby area. This role is essential in creating a patient-centered atmosphere and requires a strong commitment to service excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and direct guests to their destinations enthusiastically and effectively.
  • Provide direction for phone calls to the appropriate patient, employee, physician, or department.
  • Set an example for outstanding customer service and supervise volunteer staff.
  • Receive and enter Cheer Cards and flowers in the respective log book.
  • Deliver flowers, cheer cards, and patients' belongings to the appropriate destination.
  • Escort or transport patients to their destination when appropriate.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the Meditech system for retrieving patient information.
  • Ensure proper use of the Visitor Pass System and direct visitors correctly.
  • Access Conference Room Calendars for employee and visitor purposes.
  • Uphold HIPAA laws when accessing patient information and make necessary judgments regarding confidentiality issues.
  • Stay updated on changes to visitation information and facility policies.
  • Check Visitor Exception Emails during COVID-19.
  • Cross-train to work in the Gift Shop as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and positive environment in the main lobby and lounges.
  • Prioritize assignments and complete responsibilities in a timely manner.
  • Assume responsibility for assigned projects and follow through until completion.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required; college degree preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience in a healthcare setting performing similar duties.
  • Ability to work well with individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Experience with computer software such as MS Office or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of database software is required.
  • Superior verbal, organizational, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
