About the position

The Guest Services Specialist is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of retail and lodging functions within the organization. This role includes direct supervision of Guest Services Agents, Housekeeping staff, and Retail Associates, ensuring that all guest interactions are handled professionally and that facilities are maintained to the highest standards. The Specialist fosters a supportive team environment and ensures compliance with health codes and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Directly manage and support the Guest Services Agents, Housekeeping staff, and Retail Associates, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
  • Coordinate scheduling, task assignments, and workflow management to ensure smooth operations in both the retail and lodging areas.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for guest inquiries, concerns, and feedback, handling situations professionally and diplomatically.
  • Oversee daily retail operations, including inventory management and merchandising, and work with the Director of Guest Engagement on sales strategies.
  • Manage all aspects of lodging services, including reservations, guest check-ins, and departures, to ensure a smooth guest journey.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of local and state health codes, sanitation guidelines, and safety regulations relevant to hospitality operations.
  • Prepare daily and weekly reports on sales, occupancy rates, guest satisfaction, and staff performance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate or bachelor's degree in hospitality, business, or related field is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in hospitality or retail management, with supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of health codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices related to hospitality.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a diverse team, fostering an inclusive and collaborative team culture.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to handle guest and team issues professionally.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with point-of-sale and reservation management systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a zoological or conservation park environment.
  • Bilingual skills to assist a diverse guest population.
