About the position

Discovery Health Sciences Schools is seeking qualified Guest Teachers for grades K through 12th. This role is essential in providing temporary support to full-time teachers by ensuring that classroom activities and student development continue seamlessly. As a Guest Teacher, you will be responsible for maintaining the educational environment and upholding the standards set by the regular teacher. This position requires flexibility and adaptability, as you will be stepping into various classrooms and handling different subjects and age groups. You will be expected to follow the lesson plans provided by the full-time teacher and ensure that students remain engaged and focused on their learning objectives. In addition to teaching responsibilities, Guest Teachers may also be required to assist with various duties that contribute to the overall functioning of the school day. This includes supervising students during lunch or recess, managing bus duty, and addressing any disciplinary issues that may arise. Your role is crucial in maintaining order within the classroom and ensuring that students feel supported and guided in their learning journey. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for all students.

Responsibilities

• Assist in classroom activities and student development on a temporary basis.
• Continue with the lessons of the full-time teacher as closely as possible.
• Supervise students during lunch or recess.
• Manage bus duty as required.
• Give and grade assignments as per the lesson plan.
• Handle discipline and maintain order within the classroom.

Requirements

• Must have at least a high school diploma to substitute teach in Louisiana.
• Pass a national and state criminal background check.
