About the position

The Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer position at Lockheed Martin involves supporting the integration, testing, verification, and validation of missile algorithms. The role focuses on pre-flight performance prediction simulations and post-flight data reconstruction, requiring a strong understanding of flight mechanics and simulation techniques. The engineer will work in a collaborative environment, contributing to system performance assessments and trade studies.

Responsibilities

  • Support the integration, test, verification, and validation of missile algorithms.
  • Conduct pre-flight performance prediction simulation runs.
  • Perform post-flight reconstruction including model verification and validation with collected flight test data.
  • Identify and correct unexplained artifacts in simulation results or flight test data.
  • Assist in system performance assessments and trade studies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with Missile 6DOF simulation design and analysis.
  • Strong analytical and math skills, particularly in controls.
  • Proficient in C++ and/or FORTRAN.
  • Experienced with MATLAB.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Secret clearance.
  • Willingness to work onsite in a classified lab environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with FORTRAN, Ada, and/or Python.
  • Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) simulation experience.
  • Flight software integration and verification experience.
