About the position

The position involves working with the Military Space Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) team at Lockheed Martin, focusing on the design and production of hardware, algorithms, and software for controlling systems in challenging space environments. The role requires a strong background in spacecraft relative navigation, particularly in Rendezvous and Proximity Operations (RPO), and offers the opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking technology and solutions in a collaborative team setting.

Responsibilities

  • Design and produce hardware, algorithms, and software for GN&C systems.
  • Develop RPO algorithms from initial system design through the entire code development lifecycle.
  • Utilize simulation and programming tools such as Matlab/Simulink, C++, and Python.
  • Implement Kalman Filtering and Attitude Determination techniques.
  • Work with LM CoreSim and/or Flat Sim development.
  • Collaborate with team members to solve complex technical challenges in a dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • BS or MS Degree in Aerospace Engineering or related discipline focusing on control system design & analysis.
  • Strong experience in Relative Navigation: RPO algorithm development.
  • Experience with simulation and programming tools (e.g., Matlab/Simulink, C++, Python).
  • Experience with Kalman Filtering and Attitude Determination.
  • Possess active TS/SCI clearance with CI Poly.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with flight software development and autocode to C++.
  • RPO experience in both simulation and operations.
  • Experience working with Smallsats.
  • Familiarity with a GN&C hardware suite for space applications.
  • Mission operations experience.
  • Demonstrated good communication skills.
