About the position

The Software QA Analyst is responsible for developing and executing manual functional tests for new or modified applications and systems. This role requires collaboration with other cross-functional team members to ensure that the software meets the required specifications and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in enterprise-level software testing, particularly with web-based applications in a large-scale, relational database environment. The position demands a keen attention to detail and the ability to work effectively within a team to deliver high-quality software solutions. In this role, the QA Analyst will create, modify, and execute manual functional test cases and test plans, ensuring that all applications are tested thoroughly according to the functional specifications. The analyst will also seek clarifications on requirements to cover all necessary test conditions and will document any bugs or defects clearly, providing relevant information for the development team. Collaboration with developers and other team members is essential for retesting and closing defects, and the QA Analyst will be responsible for providing clear and concise status updates on assigned tasks, which will be included in test reports detailing the results of testing activities. Additionally, the QA Analyst will assist in creating and maintaining test data in test environments to satisfy the test conditions. This position is crucial for maintaining the integrity and quality of the software products being developed, and it requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Model ethical behavior and execute job responsibilities in accordance with our core values, ethics, and information protection policies.
  • Create, modify and execute manual functional test cases and test plans for applications with high quality as per requirement/functional specifications.
  • Seek requirement clarifications to adequately cover test conditions.
  • Clearly document bugs or defects with relevant information.
  • Collaborate with Dev and other team members in retesting and defect closure.
  • Provide clear and concise status of assigned tasks for test reports covering the results of testing activities.
  • Assist in creating/maintaining test data in test environments to satisfy the test conditions.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in enterprise-level software testing with web-based applications.
  • 2 or more years of experience in implementing and using a variety of quality assurance methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Waterfall and Agile software delivery frameworks.
  • Proven interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well within a cross-functional team building relationships to collaborate and deliver working software.
  • Service-oriented, self-motivated, with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and set priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Automation or Performance QA tools like QTP, Load Runner.
  • Knowledge of API testing tools like Soap UI.
  • Knowledge of database concepts including creating, modifying and executing SQL queries.
  • Knowledge of the Property and Casualty insurance industry.
