About the position
The Guidewire PolicyCenter Technical Lead role at Nationwide is focused on providing technical leadership and solutions for the PLS Sales and Servicing Value Stream. This position requires a strong background in Guidewire products, particularly Policy Center, and involves mentoring junior developers while driving the adoption of secure software practices. The role is hybrid, allowing for collaboration in various office locations, and emphasizes innovation and continuous improvement in technology delivery.
Responsibilities
- Apply secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Mentor and train team members on design techniques, tools, and coding standards.
- Provide strategic advice on using technology to achieve business goals.
- Drive cross-collaboration and execution of projects across multiple teams.
- Analyze, develop, test, debug, document, and deploy software according to standards and optimal practices.
- Champion the use of DevSecOps practices, tooling, and techniques.
- Ensure continuous learning and improvement through ongoing training and innovation.
- Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience working with Guidewire products, specifically Guidewire Policy Center Version 10+
- Experience with unit testing, code coverage, and best practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding of RESTful APIs
- Understanding of Kafka and Microservices
- Monitoring using NewRelic and Splunk
- Understanding of SQL databases, with the ability to write queries
- Insurance experience is a plus
- Understanding of DevOps, cloud concepts, and Agile methodologies
- Ability to provide guidance to the team and mentor junior developers
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with IIBv10 Aggregation, Message Flows, Message Maps, and ESQL
- Proficiency in one programming language such as Java, C++, Python, or JavaScript
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle
