About the position

The Guitar Instructor position at the Preparatory Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College involves teaching private and group guitar lessons to children aged 3 to 18. Responsibilities

  • Teach private and group guitar lessons to children of varied ages and levels.
  • Prepare students for solo and group recitals, masterclasses, and other performances.
  • Contribute to the preparation of concert programs and creation of group classes.
  • Provide additional assistance as needed.
  • Accompany, direct, and perform in student and instructor recitals when required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Performance, and/or Music Education.
  • Minimum four years of private and group teaching experience.
  • Strong knowledge of repertoire and curriculum, and experience in music pedagogy and classroom management.
  • Excellent musicianship and artistry, and proficiency in the instrument.
  • Ability to consistently and effectively communicate with students, parents, and administration in a positive manner.
  • Commitment to providing a stimulating, collaborative, and inclusive learning environment.
