About the position

The Lead Music Teacher at School of Rock Summer Creek is responsible for providing high-quality music education to students through individualized lessons and group rehearsals. This role focuses on inspiring students to unleash their musical talent and confidence while creating a dynamic and safe learning environment. The teacher will engage students in various music genres and assist in the execution of seasonal showcases, ensuring a comprehensive educational experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop thoughtful individualized student lesson plans and document progress for parents and students
  • Support the development and execution of each season showcase
  • Assist with student show assignments and casting decisions
  • Assist rehearsals to support season themes, song setlists, and band transitions
  • Promote shows in advance and drive interest and ticket sales
  • Assist with show productions to ensure they are well executed
  • Deliver highest quality music education through individual lessons and leading group rehearsals
  • Teach the fundamentals of music following the patented School of Rock method
  • Assist with daily store opening and closing activities
  • Support Music Director by assisting with group rehearsals
  • Assist with general school & musical equipment maintenance
  • Support lesson rescheduling when cancellations occur
  • Maintain excellent relationships with existing students and parents
  • Lead school tours to sell prospective students and parents
  • Assist the General Manager & Music Director with additional tasks as required
  • Communicate student progress regularly with parents after each lesson and rehearsal
  • Consistently interact with parents and students and be visible and accessible in the school
  • Adhere to the SoR Code of Conduct, safety policies, and Monitoring and Supervision policy

Requirements

  • Six years or more experience teaching and/or performing music professionally
  • Knowledge of music theory and curriculum design
  • Exhibit passion for teaching and mentoring students
  • Excellent ability to deal with a diverse set of customers and work well under pressure
  • Welcoming, enthusiastic, flexible, patient, and overall positive attitude
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
  • Resourceful team player that collaborates well and displays good judgment
