About the position

The Senior Credit Underwriter (SCU) at Bank of America is responsible for supporting the Credit Executive in developing new lending relationships with strategic wealth clients, driving funded loan balance and revenue growth, and managing a portfolio of existing lending relationships. The role involves performing in-depth financial analysis for credit approval of ultra-high-net-worth clients, ensuring compliance with policies and underwriting standards. The SCU plays a critical role in underwriting custom lending requests and managing a loan portfolio in alignment with the bank's risk appetite and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Support loan growth through high-quality underwriting activities
  • Develop, deepen, and sustain value-driven relationships with Line of Business partners
  • Collaborate with Sales, Risk, Operations, and Portfolio Management to execute underwriting approval documents
  • Prepare concise written analysis of custom lending transactions
  • Identify, escalate, and debate data quality, regulatory, and/or policy breach issues
  • Maintain asset quality within defined risk appetite limits
  • Proactively manage pipeline and timely deal flow of new and existing transactions
  • Day to day management of loan portfolio in conjunction with partners

Requirements

  • Strong financial analysis and accounting skills
  • 3-5+ years of commercial/private wealth management credit experience
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Organized and detail-oriented with ability to multi-task
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or economics
  • Formal Credit Training and/or Commercial/Wealth Management credit experience
