About the position

The Health & Safety Director at Actalent is responsible for overseeing safety protocols and initiatives within the organization, particularly focusing on roadside safety and compliance with OSHA regulations. This role involves identifying gaps in safety practices, facilitating the development of safety programs, conducting inspections, and providing training to ensure that the North American Market is well-informed about safety standards. The director will act as a resource for leadership, offering insights to enhance safety initiatives and holding others accountable for safety practices.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of safety protocols, including roadside safety, safety standards, certifications, and training.
  • Act as a supportive resource for leadership, providing recommendations and insights to enhance safety initiatives.
  • Identify gaps in safety practices and take ownership in addressing these areas.
  • Facilitate the development of safety programs and continuously improve processes and procedures.
  • Conduct safety inspections and remain up-to-date on OSHA requirements and reporting obligations.
  • Provide training sessions and ensure that the North American Market (NAM) is well-informed on OSHA regulations and reporting.
  • Exhibit a passion for safety by taking initiative, monitoring progress, and holding others accountable.

Requirements

  • Health & safety management experience
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations and legal safety guidelines
  • Proven experience in safety training and accident investigation
  • Audit experience to ensure compliance with safety protocols
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in roadside or construction safety
  • At least 5 years of experience as a health and safety manager, preferably in construction or transportation, with corporate experience being a requirement
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification is mandatory.
