About the position

The HR Generalist Lead at the Texas Department of Transportation is responsible for overseeing advanced human resources functions within the Human Resources Division. This role involves facilitating various HR programs, mentoring staff, and serving as a lead worker for professional and administrative employees. The position requires a high level of independence in managing work plans and priorities, as well as direct interaction with management, employees, and external agencies to ensure compliance with HR policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform, coordinate, and oversee advanced human resources-related work.
  • Facilitate one or more human resources programs.
  • Serve as a lead worker for professional and administrative employees.
  • Review, prepare, maintain, and audit confidential information.
  • Coordinate hiring program activities including monitoring job openings and facilitating the hiring process.
  • Oversee the design and delivery of employee forums and new employee orientation.
  • Conduct quality reviews of human resources programs and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide information and advice on HR policies and procedures to employees and management.
  • Consult with management and governmental agencies regarding compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Research, analyze, and resolve HR issues, providing recommendations to management.

Requirements

  • Experience in human resources management and program facilitation.
  • Strong knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and state/federal regulations.
  • Ability to mentor and develop staff through coaching and professional development.
  • Excellent communication skills for advising employees and management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address HR issues.
