Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc. (SGA) is seeking a hands-on Data Architect for a full-time assignment with one of our premier Financial Services clients located in mid-town Manhattan, NY. This position offers a hybrid work model, requiring two days per week in the office. The Data Architect will be responsible for developing and managing the overall data architecture and strategy of the organization. This role is crucial for enabling efficient data analytics that support informed decision-making aligned with the organization's business needs. The Data Architect will collaborate closely with data and software engineers, business users, and other stakeholders to design and implement data solutions, including databases, data warehouses, and data models. This individual will be expected to work collaboratively with IT teams throughout the full life cycle of system development projects, which includes requirements gathering, application design, data modeling, coding, testing, delivery, support, and enhancements. The firm's applications are primarily developed using Python/Django and libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and PL/SQL, alongside technologies like SQL Server, MySQL, Elastic Search, Redis, Kafka, Tableau, and various third-party APIs and data sources. In this role, the Data Architect will provide technical leadership and direction for data management projects that align with long-term business objectives. They will help design a data infrastructure that supports complex data analytical services and is consistent with the firm's data system footprint. The Data Architect will also contribute to thought leadership in build vs. buy decisions for data management solutions and work closely with external data management partners to onboard use cases. Additionally, they will define data governance policies and oversee their implementation to ensure data quality, accuracy, and consistency. The successful candidate will be expected to balance short-term tactical needs with longer-term projects, leading ongoing Proof of Concepts (POCs) with external partners and playing a key role in selecting appropriate data management partners. They will also manage a team of junior and mid-level developers, ensuring productivity and code quality while forging solid relationships with key partners and contributing to the broader IT conversation regarding data architecture and technology evolution.
