About the position

The Handyman / Hotel Maintenance position is essential for ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for guests at the hotel. This role involves performing routine and preventative maintenance tasks, addressing minor repairs, and maintaining the overall cleanliness and safety of the hotel premises. The ideal candidate will possess technical skills and a sense of urgency to keep hotel operations running smoothly.

Responsibilities

  • Create a safe and attractive environment for guests and staff by maintaining the hotel according to safety standards.
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance tasks throughout the hotel, including flipping mattresses, vacuuming, deep cleaning carpets, and mopping floors.
  • Conduct waste removal, touch-up painting, wall repairs, and replace filters and ceiling tiles.
  • Change light bulbs, patch holes in walls, and ensure all appliances in guest rooms are functional.
  • Clean and replace light fixtures, and repair grout and caulking as needed.
  • Perform minor repairs on toilets, sinks, shower/bathtubs, doors, locks, mirrors, and kitchen equipment.
  • Maintain the safety and cleanliness of the hotel's exterior, grounds, and pool area.
  • Keep all tools, equipment, and working areas in good condition.
  • Assist in the setup and breakdown of meeting spaces and conference areas.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year of hotel or apartment maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical and plumbing systems.
  • Experience with general maintenance tools.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic math knowledge.
  • Ability to move, lift, carry, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance and more than 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to push, pull, bend, stoop, and reach upward as needed.
  • Ability to grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to stand, sit, kneel, or walk for extended periods during a work shift.
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to extreme temperatures and cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
