About the position

The Hardware Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and validation of next-generation Haptic Technologies at Apple. This role involves working with various actuation and sensing technologies from concept to mass production, ensuring integration into complex consumer electronics systems. The position requires collaboration in a multi-functional environment to enhance user experience through innovative haptic solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design the haptics subsystem, including architecture, component selection, and schematics of boards and flexible assemblies.
  • Validate and characterize the module, focusing on performance and signal/power integrity.
  • Define test requirements and conduct failure analysis at both module and system levels.
  • Collaborate on proof of concept investigations for new sensing and actuator technologies, evaluating their impact on user experience.
  • Interact and communicate effectively with team members from industrial design, software, firmware, mechanical engineering, and operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong background in electrical engineering, circuit design, signal processing, and electromagnetism.
  • Good understanding of sensors and associated signal chains.
  • Fundamental knowledge in physics and mechanical engineering.
  • Knowledge of statistics fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, SPICE, Simulink, or similar simulation tools.
  • Familiarity with modeling electro-mechanical systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in PCB design and IC validation/bring-up.
  • Experience with electromagnetic or piezoelectric actuators.
  • Proficiency in Python or C.
