About the position

The Hardware and Door Systems Coordinator at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and administration of all door hardware systems, including manual locking systems, keying systems, and automatic door operating systems. This role involves coordinating with various teams to ensure the reliability and safety of these systems, as well as managing projects related to renovations and constructions. The coordinator will also develop training systems for maintenance staff and maintain an inventory control system for spare parts.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all aspects of maintaining door hardware systems including manual locking and keying systems.
  • Coordinate and maintain lock and keying systems administration, including database systems.
  • Collaborate with Facilities Project Management on renovations and construction projects to incorporate key systems.
  • Supervise maintenance operations for all automatic door systems, ensuring high reliability and safety.
  • Maintain an inventory control system for spare parts and operating systems.
  • Develop and maintain training systems for maintenance staff on locksmith skills and automatic door maintenance.
  • Coordinate small maintenance projects, reviewing documentation for conformance to project objectives and CHOP standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least five years of experience as a technician or facilities mechanic in an institution or industrial role required.
  • At least five years of experience maintaining and supervising door hardware and automated door systems in an industrial or healthcare enterprise required.
  • At least five years of experience managing and utilizing a CMMS or similar complex database required.
  • At least three years of experience in developing and deploying maintenance systems and protocols to skilled staff required.
  • Technical diploma in door hardware installation and keying systems preferred.
  • Technical diploma in carpentry or similar building maintenance field preferred.
  • Associate's degree in construction management preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of NFPA 80 standards.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing automatic door systems.
  • Locksmith skills in duplicating keys and pinning cylinder systems.
