About the position

In this exciting role as a Hardware Computer Product Engineer, the successful candidate will be responsible for building, testing, and modifying RDC prototypes and its derivative platform(s). This includes qualifying and integrating components into the final design, as well as performing QA testing of computer hardware and validating target software applications. The engineer will evaluate the effectiveness of the design and recommend essential changes, ensuring that systems are efficient and operational through a rigorous quality control process. Additionally, the role involves writing descriptive manuals and guides for the RDC platform, which may include technically challenging and complex topics. The engineer will also be responsible for routine maintenance of in-house RDC systems, managing parts logistics such as shipping and receiving, and coordinating replacements for parts failures. Working closely with hardware and software vendors to resolve issues is a key aspect of this position, as is supporting field escalations. The role requires a solid understanding of virtualization concepts and comprehensive knowledge of computer hardware, as well as basic programming skills using scripting languages such as Bash. This position is part of KLA's Measurement, Analytics and Control group (MACH), which focuses on innovating technologies and solutions that detect and control complex process variations in semiconductor manufacturing. The MACH team collaborates with customers to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively, making this role critical in advancing chip design and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Build, test and modify RDC prototypes and its derivative platform(s)
  • Qualify & integrate components into the final design
  • Test and re-test parts to ensure they work properly
  • Perform QA testing of computer hardware and validating target software applications
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the design and recommend essential changes
  • Help write descriptive manuals and guides for RDC platform, including technically challenging & complex topics
  • Engage in quality control process to ensure that systems are efficient and operational
  • Perform routine maintenance of in-house RDC systems
  • Manage parts logistics (shipping/receiving) and spare inventory
  • Work with HW & SW vendors to resolve issues
  • Support field escalations

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Computer Engineering
  • 1-3 years of hands-on experience building computer systems running Linux and VMware
  • Solid understanding of virtualization concepts
  • Comprehensive knowledge of computer hardware
  • Basic programming skills using scripting languages such as Bash
