About the position

The Hardware Customer Service Associate at Tropical Hardware, LLC is responsible for providing exceptional customer service in a retail environment, specifically in hardware-related products. This part-time role involves assisting customers with product knowledge, maintaining store organization, and promoting sales. The associate will also handle customer concerns, stock merchandise, and assist with various tasks related to hardware and home improvement.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and provide outstanding professional service to customers by offering assistance in product knowledge.
• Cooperate and work well with other employees as part of the team.
• Actively promote sales, new products, or suggest additional products to customers.
• Handle customer concerns within store policies and procedures.
• Maintain the interior and exterior of the store.
• Stock shelves, racks, cases, and bins with new or transferred merchandise.
• Maintain assigned aisles per instructions, including pricing accuracy.
• Keep areas organized at all times and maintain knowledge of merchandise stocked and its location.
• Assist with unloading trucks and stocking shelves weekly.
• Cut keys, screens, pipes, glass, re-keying, and mixing paint (training provided).
• Assist customers with large or heavy items as needed.
• Design and set up displays of merchandise.
• Attend store meetings as required.
• Maintain safety and security within the store at all times.
• Wear uniform as required.
• Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the store manager/supervisor.

Requirements

• Experience in plumbing, electrical, construction, or paint matching is a plus.
• Punctual and reliable.
• High School diploma or its equivalent.
• Computer and keyboard experience.
• Friendly and polite demeanor.
• Ability to multitask.
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as a team player.
• Efficient time management to complete daily shift tasks.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift at least 60 lbs.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge in mixing color paint, construction, plumbing, electrical, lawn garden, hardware, replacing window screens, and cutting keys.
